Norway and Bangladesh recently expressed interest in expanding economic partnership through trade, investment and cooperation in the maritime sector. The two sides also discussed the potential for offshore renewable energy investments. Bangladeshi Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen briefed his Norwegian counterpart Annekin Huitfeldt on measures taken in building safe and organic production facilities in the garment sector.

Momen met with the visiting Norwegian minister in Dhaka on April 24. The latter showed interest in the shipbreaking industry and inquired about Bangladesh’s plans regarding the ratification of the Hong Kong Convention.
They stressed the paramount priority of an effective ceasefire in Ukraine and expressed concern about the humanitarian situation, according to Bangladeshi media reports.
