Bindu, the Legendary Actress has Suffered a lot of Abuse for this Reason

Bombay: Famous for playing antagonistic roles, erstwhile actress Bindu carved out her own unique identity in Hindi cinema in the 1970s.

Born April 17, 1941 in Gujarat, Bindu was particularly popular as “Mona Darling” in Hindi films. The actress began her film career with the 1962 film Anpadh. After that she did a fantastic job in Ittefaq and both films turned out to be box office hits.

Bindu’s father passed away when she was 13, and since she was the eldest daughter, the burden of making money fell on her shoulders. Bindu fell in love with Champaklal Zaveri, his neighborhood and childhood friend, after which they got married. She would have had a child with him, now deceased.

In an interview, Bindu said, “When I first started it was a time of bad guys. I wanted to be a heroine, but someone said that I am too skinny and cannot speak Hindi properly. But some people liked that I liked my flaws so with the movie Make Raaste, I started to portray negative roles.

She became a item girl overnight for her steamy cabaret dance in the movie Kati Patang ‘s song Mera Naam Hai Shabnam.

The negative roles affected Bindu’s personal life. “I played a number of bad mother roles. Every time my sister’s kids went to see the movie with me, they would look at the screen and then look at me and say, Aunt Bindu, you don’t do such things with us, so why do you do that in the movies? ”

Not only that, people saw Bindu as “bad luck” in public places. Bindu used to say that due to her character she was often abused.

Her acting talent has been seen in the films of Hrishikesh Mukherjee Arjun Pandit and Abhimaan, where she won praise for playing a very likable character. She turned out to be just as convincing as the crippled woman of Chaitali and as the role of Ashok Kumar’s deglamored wife, in Arjun Pandit.

On December 5th, 1969, a spicy drama Bollywood movie called “Do Raaste” was released. It starred Rajesh Khanna, Mumtaz, and Prem Chopra in the main roles. Bindu played a character named Neela Allopee Prasad in the movie.

After that, Bindu had more success with another movie called “Katti Patang” released in 1970. It was directed by Shakti Samanta and starred Rajesh Khanna, Asha Parekh, and Bindu. In the movie, Bindu’s performance in a dance called “Mera Naam Shabnam” was really popular and got a lot of applause.

Bindu also acted in a bold role in the movie “Imtehaan,” which was directed by Harry Baweja and released on March 11th, 1994. The movie starred Sunny Deol and Raveena Tandon.

Another film she was in was “Hawas,” released in 1974. She played a bold character in the movie, which also starred Anil Dhawan, Vinod Mehra, and Neetu Singh.

Bindu proved that married women can act in movies and had several hits year after year. She’s even mentioned alongside item number divas like Helen and Aruna Irani.

Her acting skills were highlighted in movies like “Arjun Pandit” and “Abhimaan.” “Arjun Pandit” is an action-packed Bollywood movie starring Sunny Deol and Juhi Chawla in the lead roles.
