FC Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been robbed and beaten at his house in Barcelona

FC Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was robbed and threatened by at least four men in his own mansion in Barcelona. The incident happened on Monday morning, as a footballer was also beaten up, as armed men have used iron bars and firearms, when breaking into the property. Report says that all of these have happened in front of the player’s wife, Alysha Behague, both of them doing well at the moment. Robbers have managed to escape in a car, presumably Audi A3, while stealing jewels from a safe. Unfortunately, this is not the first incident of football players being robbed in Spain. Previously, famous players like Casemiro, Jordi Alba, Samuel Umtiti and Gerard Pique have faced the following issue. It was reported a few years ago that Spanish police had dismantled a gang, which was robbing houses of famous athletes.

Currently 33-year old forward Aubameyang, a Gabon international, has signed with a Spanish top club on a free transfer last season. He did not participate in the last two La Liga games against Real Sociedad and Real Valladolid, only playing 8 minutes in a starting game against Rayo Vallecano. Since the arrival of a Polish international striker Robert Lewandowski from FC Bayern Munich, Pierre-Emerick is rumoured to have been one of the players expected to be sold to a different club, as Barcelona has to clear their salary cap space. One of the clubs strongly interested in signing Aubameyang is rumoured to be FC Chelsea, as the club is now in need of a goalscorer, since departures of two main strikers Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan and Timo Werner to RB Leipzig.

The La Liga championship started only 3 weeks ago, as Real Madrid and Real Betis are the only two teams, which have not lost a single point, winning all their three games. Next week these teams will face each other in Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu. FC Barcelona is going to visit Sevilla, which started the season really slow, with a record of 1 draw and 2 losses in 3 games. As mentioned above, Barcelona is coming into the next week in a very good form, scoring 4 goals in each of the last two games and earning 7 points out of 9 possible. Robert Lewandowski shares top of the goalscoring table with Real Betis striker Borja Iglesias, both of them already netted 4 goals in La

Liga.

Another match taking place next week in Spain, which is worth mentioning, is Real Sociedad that has recently sold their main forward Alexander Isak to a Premier League club Newcastle for a club record fee of €70mln, hosting Atletico Madrid, which has already lost against Villarreal in the previous round of a championship.

With the transfer window closing soon, it is very interesting to see how clubs are going to manage their rosters in order to battle for La Liga title. FC Barcelona is being the most active, as apart from Aubameyang, also Frenkie De Jong, Memphis Depay and Sergino Dest are likely to leave the club.
