In basketball too, a single move decides the game. Such an incident happened with Horry. However, for him, the consequence was a little more painful.

We have seen that NBA players are given many nicknames. However, most of these nicknames are meaningless. However, the nickname of Robert Horry is not silly. Rather, his nickname seems to match him perfectly. During his playing career, he became known as Big Shot Bob. He got this nickname because of his ability to knock down big jump shots at crucial moments. However, he too had his share of mistakes and regrets.

Recently in The Dan Patrick Show, Horry revealed that, even now, he can’t forget one missed shot of his career. That missed shot during the 2003 NBA playoffs cost him $6 million! Surprised? Read the article to know more about the event.

In the dan patrick show, Dan Patrick asked Horry if any bugs were still haunting him. Responding to this query, Horry admitted that there is a bug that haunts him even now. He further remarked that the failure cost him $6 million! Robert Horry then proceeded to tell the story. He said the missed shot he was talking about was from his last season with the Lakers, in the playoffs. Horry narrated that he was having a terrible playoff that season. Game 5 was being played at the Spurs’ home in San Antonio. Late in the game, Kobe passed the ball to Horry, who missed the 3-point shot.

In fact, in that game, Kobe nearly led the Lakers to a 25-point comeback. But Robert Horry’s missed shot in the final seconds of the game led to the Lakers’ loss. Ultimately, the Lakers also lost the final game of the series at home and that ended their season. Horry on the show stated that because of that failure, the Lakers did not re-sign him the next season.

According to him, that year would have been a “great year” for him. He further added that he would have earned “6 million dollars that year, so that injection cost me a lot of money.”

However, in an old Players’ Tribune article, he offered a slightly different version of the incident. He said the Lakers were interested in getting Karl Malone. So they left it.

Big Shot Bob finished well

Although that failure resulted in a painful divorce between Horry and the Lakers, things turned out pretty well for Horry in the end. He wasn’t making $6 million a year. But when he landed in San Antonio he made $15 million in five seasons. In Texas he won two additional championships, while the Lakers won nothing until his retirement. He also thanked the Lakers for giving him the chance to prove himself. Therefore, Robert Horry had the last laugh. Maybe that could have made up for the loss of him.

conclusion

Thus Robert Horry finally made up for his ‘loss’. In San Antonio, he went on to show the Lakers that they were wrong to show him the door. It was two championships. But the Lakers were without titles until Horry’s retirement. Looks like Big Shot Bob had the last laugh. However, the ‘loss’ haunts him even today.
