Vimi became famous with her first film Hamraaz in 1967. The movie was directed by B. R. Chopra and starred big actors like Sunil Dutt and Raaj Kumar. People liked Vimi’s acting and beauty. The movie was a hit, and Vimi was seen as a rising star.
Soon, she became one of the most talked-about actresses in Bollywood. She earned good money and was praised for her charm. After Hamraaz, she worked in movies like Aabroo, Patanga, and Vachan. But those films did not do well.
Personal Problems
Behind the scenes, Vimi was facing many problems. She was married to a businessman named Shiv Agarwal and had two children. Her marriage was not happy. After leaving her husband, her life started going downhill.
She then met a man named Jolly, who was a small-time film producer. Reports say he took advantage of her. He used her money and made her do things that hurt her image. Vimi even tried to start a business in Kolkata, but it failed. She lost all her money.
A Hard Life
Vimi’s health got worse over time. She started drinking alcohol. Slowly, people from the film world stopped supporting her. Her family also left her. She had no income and was living in very bad conditions.
In August 1977, Vimi was taken to Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai. She died there at just 34 years old. Her death did not get much attention. Her body was taken to the cremation ground on a handcart. Only a few people came to her funeral.
